What Is General Pest Control?

General pest control is comprehensive, recurring treatment that protects your home from the full range of common household pests found in Oklahoma. This includes ants, spiders, cockroaches, silverfish, earwigs, crickets, centipedes, millipedes, pill bugs, carpet beetles, springtails, scorpions, and more than 20 other pest species that invade OKC metro homes throughout the year.

Rather than waiting for an infestation and reacting, general pest control creates and maintains a protective barrier around your home that prevents pests from establishing inside. Each visit includes a thorough inspection, interior treatment of key areas, and a full exterior perimeter treatment. Alpha Pest Solutions offers monthly, bimonthly, and quarterly plans to match your home’s specific pest pressure.

Oklahoma’s warm, humid climate supports year-round pest activity. Spring rains drive ants and moisture pests indoors. Summer heat brings spiders, scorpions, and crickets. Fall cooling pushes rodents, crickets, and overwintering pests toward structures. Winter concentrates pests in heated spaces. A consistent general pest plan keeps your home protected through every season.

Signs You Need General Pest Control

  • Ants trailing across countertops, baseboards, or kitchen surfaces
  • Spiders appearing regularly in corners, closets, garages, or bathrooms
  • Cockroaches seen at night in kitchens, bathrooms, or laundry areas
  • Silverfish found in bathrooms, closets, or storage areas
  • Crickets chirping inside your garage, basement, or living areas
  • Earwigs, centipedes, or pill bugs found in damp areas of your home
  • Scorpions found indoors, especially in shoes, closets, or bathrooms
  • Pest activity that increases seasonally despite occasional DIY spray efforts
  • Carpet beetles or pantry moths found in stored food, clothing, or carpeting
  • A general sense that your home has ongoing pest issues that never fully resolve

Our Process

  1. Free inspection. We inspect your home inside and out, identifying active pest issues, entry points, conducive conditions, and areas of concern. We tell you exactly what we find and what we recommend.
  2. Interior treatment. We treat baseboards, entry points, plumbing penetrations, under sinks, window frames, closets, and other areas where pests travel and harbor. Products are applied as targeted crack-and-crevice treatments, not broadcast across living surfaces.
  3. Exterior perimeter treatment. We apply a continuous barrier treatment around your entire foundation, focusing on entry points: doorways, garage doors, utility penetrations, weep holes, and areas where vegetation contacts the structure. We also treat under eaves and around windows where spiders and wasps commonly nest.
  4. Web and nest removal. We knock down spider webs, wasp nests (early stage), and egg sacs from accessible exterior areas of your home. This forces spiders to cross treated surfaces when they rebuild.
  5. Conducive condition report. We note conditions that attract or support pest activity: moisture issues, vegetation touching the house, mulch against the foundation, unsealed gaps, and landscape features that provide pest harborage. We give you specific recommendations.
  6. Recurring service. On your chosen schedule (monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly), we return to refresh the barrier, inspect for new activity, and treat any emerging issues before they become infestations.

Treatment Options and Plans

Quarterly plan (most popular). Four treatments per year, timed to match Oklahoma’s seasonal pest cycles. Spring treatment catches the first wave of ant and spider activity. Summer treatment addresses peak pest pressure. Fall treatment prevents the overwintering invasion. Winter treatment maintains the barrier and addresses cold-weather pest concentration. This plan provides excellent protection for most OKC metro homes.

Bimonthly plan. Six treatments per year for homes with above-average pest pressure. Recommended for properties near creeks, lakes, or wooded areas, homes with crawlspaces, older homes with more entry points, and anyone who wants maximum barrier freshness.

Monthly plan. Twelve treatments per year for homes with severe or persistent pest pressure, commercial properties, or anyone who wants the strongest possible protection. Each monthly visit maintains a continuously fresh barrier and catches any new pest activity immediately.

One-time treatment. A single full interior and exterior treatment. Best for a specific issue rather than ongoing prevention. Includes inspection, treatment, and one follow-up visit.

What to Expect After Treatment

After your first treatment, you may see increased pest activity for 24 to 48 hours as pests contact treated surfaces and become agitated before dying. This is normal and indicates the product is working.

Most customers see a noticeable reduction in pest sightings within the first week. Full barrier effectiveness builds over the first 2 to 3 treatment cycles as products accumulate in harborage areas and entry points.

Between scheduled visits, the exterior barrier continues working. It breaks down gradually due to weather exposure, which is why recurring service is necessary to maintain full protection. If pest activity appears between scheduled visits, call us. We come back and retreat at no additional charge.

Is General Pest Control Safe for Family and Pets?

Yes. Our products are applied in targeted, low-concentration formulations to specific areas: baseboards, cracks, crevices, entry points, and the exterior foundation band. We do not broadcast product across floors, countertops, or play areas.

All interior products are dry within 30 to 60 minutes. Once dry, treated surfaces are safe for family and pets. We recommend staying off wet-treated surfaces until dry. If you have specific concerns about infants, reptile or fish pets, or family members with chemical sensitivities, let us know and we will adjust our approach.

Exterior treatments are applied to the foundation and perimeter, not to lawn or garden areas unless specifically targeting a pest in those locations.

Why Choose Alpha Pest Solutions?

Year-round Oklahoma protection. We time our treatments to match Oklahoma’s pest seasons, not an arbitrary calendar. Spring ant surge, summer spider and scorpion peak, fall rodent and cricket invasion, winter concentration. Each visit addresses the specific pests most active during that period.

Evidence-based protocol. We identify what is actually in your home before treating. If we find no pest activity during an inspection, we tell you honestly. We do not sell unnecessary services.

Comprehensive coverage. Our general pest plan covers 20+ pest species with a single service. You do not need separate contracts for ants, spiders, roaches, and crickets. One plan covers them all.

Between-visit guarantee. If pests appear between scheduled services, we come back and retreat at no additional charge. You are covered from the day you start until the day you cancel.

Small town relational feel. Big company solutions. You deal with a local team that knows your neighborhood, remembers your property, and answers the phone when you call. Not a national call center.

General Pest Control Throughout the OKC Metro

Alpha Pest Solutions provides general pest control across the entire Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

Oklahoma City. Full pest pressure year-round. South OKC sees heavy ant and cockroach activity. Heritage Hills, Mesta Park, and older central neighborhoods have elevated spider and moisture pest pressure due to crawlspace construction and aging foundations.

Norman. Heavy pest activity driven by proximity to the Canadian River, Lake Thunderbird, and the older housing stock near OU campus. Crawlspace homes see elevated moisture pest and spider issues.

Edmond. Established neighborhoods with mature trees support spider and ant populations. Scorpion pressure in areas near undeveloped land. Hackberry psyllids in fall are a high-volume seasonal complaint.

Moore. Strong ant and cockroach pressure. Newer subdivisions see ants and spiders. Properties near parks and retention ponds have elevated mosquito activity.

Midwest City and Del City. Older construction with crawlspace foundations creates elevated cockroach, spider, and moisture pest pressure.

Yukon and Mustang. Scorpion pressure is the highest in the western metro. Ant and cricket activity throughout. Properties near Mustang Creek see moisture-driven pest issues.

Bethany. Termite, cockroach, and rodent pressure in older homes. Crawlspace homes require extra attention to moisture pests.

Nichols Hills and The Village. Mature landscapes support spider, ant, and occasional rodent activity. High-value properties benefit from quarterly prevention.

We also serve Choctaw, Piedmont, Warr Acres, Blanchard, Newcastle, and Purcell.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have pest control service?

Quarterly service (4 times per year) is the minimum we recommend for effective prevention in the OKC metro. Oklahoma’s year-round pest pressure requires consistent barrier maintenance. Bimonthly or monthly service provides stronger protection for homes with above-average pest pressure. We assess your property and recommend the frequency that matches your actual pest risk.

What pests does general pest control cover?

Our general pest plan covers ants (all species), spiders (including brown recluse and black widow), cockroaches (all species), silverfish, earwigs, crickets, centipedes, millipedes, pill bugs, carpet beetles, springtails, pantry moths, scorpions, ground beetles, boxelder bugs, stink bugs, clover mites, and other common household pests. Specialized pests like termites, bed bugs, rodents, wildlife, and bats require separate targeted services.

Is quarterly pest control enough?

For most OKC metro homes, yes. Quarterly treatment maintains an effective barrier through all four seasons. Homes with persistent issues, properties near water or woods, and homes with crawlspaces may benefit from bimonthly service. We recommend the least frequent service that keeps your home pest-free and adjust upward only if needed.

Do I need to prepare my home before each visit?

Minimal preparation is needed. Move items away from baseboards in areas where you have seen pest activity (this gives us better access for treatment). No need to empty cabinets, cover furniture, or leave your home. Our treatment is targeted to specific areas and does not require the extensive preparation that some pest treatments (like bed bug treatment) need.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Alpha Pest Solutions does not require long-term contracts. You can cancel your recurring plan at any time. We earn your business with results, not paperwork.

What if I see pests between treatments?

Call us. Between-visit service is included at no additional charge with any recurring plan. We come back, identify the issue, and treat as needed. You are fully covered from your first treatment to your last.

How long after treatment until it is safe for my family and pets?

Interior treatments are safe once dry, which takes 30 to 60 minutes. We recommend keeping family and pets off wet-treated surfaces until dry. You do not need to leave your home during treatment.

Do I still need pest control if I have a new home?

Yes. New construction in Oklahoma is just as vulnerable to pest invasion as older homes. New developments often disturb ant colonies, spider habitats, and rodent territories, pushing them toward the nearest structures. New homes also have fresh wood that attracts termites and construction gaps that allow pest entry. Quarterly service from the start prevents problems before they develop.

What time of year should I start pest control?

Any time. Pests are active year-round in Oklahoma. Starting in spring catches the first surge of activity, but starting in fall prevents the overwintering invasion, and starting in winter addresses concentrated pest activity inside heated homes. The best time to start is now, regardless of the season.

How is professional pest control different from DIY spray?

Professional treatment uses non-repellent, residual products that kill pests over time as they cross treated surfaces. Over-the-counter sprays are typically repellent products that kill pests on contact but push surviving pests away from the treated area without eliminating the source. Professional exterior barrier treatment is applied more precisely and at correct concentrations for lasting effectiveness. Most customers who switch from DIY to professional service notice a significant difference within the first treatment cycle.
